By Kevin Maher
In Jacob’s shoes hosts its 12th annual dinner and auction, “Every Sole Counts”, which benefits local children in need.
Held Thursday, October 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Boca West Country Club, cost is $200 per person, with 100% of proceeds going to In Jacob’s Shoes.
The event includes cocktails, dinner, raffles, and live and silent auctions. Some items that will be auctioned include jewelry, restaurant gift cards, beauty services, and golf outings.
In Jacob’s Shoes is a non-profit charitable organization established in honor of Jacob S. Zweig, who was tragically killed in 2008 at the age of 17. Jacob has inspired many throughout his life, often through volunteerism.
To honor Jacob’s legacy, In Jacob’s Shoes was created. The charity provides new and gently used shoes, socks, backpacks, school supplies and sports equipment to children and families in need living in South Florida.
“The need has grown tremendously,” said In Jacob’s Shoes president and co-founder Harlene Zweig, a Parkland resident. “But our distribution too.”
Since 2009, the charity has provided over 192,000 pairs of shoes and over 10,000 backpacks containing school supplies to children and families in need.
