Swindon’s best shops, pubs and lounges revealed at Muddy Stilettos Awards

Seven Swindon businesses have won lifestyle awards which showcase independent businesses across the country.

The 2022 Muddy Stilettos Awards came to a close last week, with the Wiltshire winners revealed. It was the culmination of six weeks of voting for the best local businesses across 28 counties in Muddy, in partnership with national sponsor Healthily.

This year, 75,000 companies were nominated and 765,000 votes were cast in 2022.

All votes were cast by readers of muddy stilettosso the website offering an “urban guide to the countryside” had no influence on the results.

The newly opened Bert’s Books in Swindon’s Old Town has been selected as the winner of Best Bookshop in the County.

Owner Alex Call opened the online store in 2019, offering book bundles suitable for all types of readers.

During the lockdown, the store grew so big that Alex decided to open a physical store in May – just a month and a half before he was selected as the winner of Best Bookshop in Wiltshire.

Some of the other Swindon winners are The Eternal Optimist in Old Town, which won Best Bar, Trousseaux Bridal as Best Bridal Shop, Baby Class Society Stretches & Strokes as Best Children’s Company, Hannah Brown Jewelery as best jeweller, Little Grazey as best new lifestyle start-up and Kapada Vintage as best women’s fashion boutique.

Royal Wootton Bassett’s Little Gem won Wiltshire’s best coffee award.
