Queen Maxima gifted 3 rings worth over £750,000 to husband for sentimental reasons

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has a stunning orange diamond engagement ring, but it’s not the only ring she’s received from King Willem-Alexander over the years. The Dutch royal is often seen pairing her engagement ring with three other rings – all of which have both monetary and sentimental value – and represent the birth of her three children.

To mark the birth of their first daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia, the King of the Netherlands presented Maxima with a ruby and diamond ring which she wears on her right hand.

Jewelery experts Steven Stone said, “Ruby is a brilliant dark red stone that has acquired special and symbolic meaning over time.

“Throughout the ages, the ruby has represented nobility, purity and passion.

“Physically, rubies are believed to energize and balance, while encouraging a passion for life.

“They are also said to overcome exhaustion and calm hyperactivity when worn daily.”

Regarding the design of the ring, the experts added, “If that weren’t enough, the ruby featured in this ring is incredibly special, as it is a pigeon’s blood ruby, which is not only visually impeccable, but also incredibly rare.”

Managing Director Zack Stone commented on the value of the ring: “The stone appears to be in the range of four to four point five carats.

Steven Stone said: “Orange sapphires are believed to stimulate sexual stamina and appetite and increase fertility, suggesting the king may have wanted another child? If so, the sapphire powers definitely worked.

Zack Stone added: “At around 10 carats I would retail it at £92,000 ($120,000).

“Although it is particularly similar to the engagement ring that Queen Maxima wears, the setting of the stone is the most obvious way to tell the two apart.”

To celebrate the birth of their youngest daughter, Princess Ariana, Willem-Alexander gave Maxima an emerald-cut diamond ring.

Zack discussed the design and said, “This ring is amazing. Presenting what appears to be a seven to eight carat emerald cut diamond, I would estimate its value at around £420,000 ($540,000).

“The stone will no doubt be of the highest quality – looking at the pictures it looks almost perfect.

“With two small emerald-cut stones on either side, three-stone rings are meant to represent the past, present and future, but in this case the stones could represent the couple’s three children.”
