NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A traffic cop survived a two-kilometer drive hanging from the hood of a car that tried to run over him in the Tha Sala neighborhood on Wednesday.
Sgt Maj Montri Nitichai, of Tha Sala Police Station, said he was on a motorcycle, waiting at a crossroads in Tha Sala market, when a yellow Mitsubishi car with red license plates struck the back of his motorcycle.
The impact was not hard and he got off the bike to talk to the driver, the officer said. At this point, the driver accelerated towards him, causing him to jump on the hood. The car then drove for about two kilometers with the officer hooked up.
At Arthit Market, the driver suddenly stopped the car, throwing the policeman out of the hood. The driver then sped off.
Pol Capt Narongchai Khongchuay, who questioned the officer, said the victim did not see the driver’s face clearly because the driver was wearing a cap. No one saw the car’s license plate either.
Police are reportedly trying to identify the perpetrator with surveillance camera footage, he said.
