How Connecticut Stores Are Celebrating
Conn. (WTNH) – Need a good trip to a thrift store? There’s no better time to hit the shelves than August 17th for National Thrift Day.
There are several thriving consignment stores and thrift stores across the state. Find out how some stores are celebrating with NTSD or general summer specials:
Clothing Mentor — 90 Buckland Road, South Windsor
Clothes Manor isn’t just your average thrift store; the store features designer, luxury, and hard-to-find items. While in use the items are in excellent condition, including a Louis Vuitton handbag which is currently up for grabs. Apart from the expensive pieces, the shop also has a ton of sales. Earlier this week, they held a clearance event where jeans, tops and jewelry were on sale for just $1.
Consignment originals — 151 Highland Ave, Cheshire
Consignment Originals, which has branches in Cheshire, Orange, Avon and Rocky Hill, is celebrating 40 years in business. Ahead of the fall season, they are offering 25% off furniture and home decor. A “Buy More, Save More” sale also started last week, allowing 15% off one item, 20% off two items and 25% off three items. CO offers a wide selection of clothing, accessories, homeware and furniture.
Plenty for toddlers — 1525 S Willow Street, Manchester
Looking for something for the kids? Lots for Tots offers a selection of children’s resale clothing from newborn to sizes 10-12. Plus, toys and gear are up for grabs like bikes, cribs, and bouncers/rockers. Some items are only $1 as part of the Shop’s Summer Clearance Sale.
Loved shop — 847 Main Street West, Branford
The Shore offers women’s clothing and accessories for sale in a boutique and resale store with inclusive sizes up to 3X. Currently, Loved Boutique has a summer sale going on where collectibles are 50% off. Although their retail store is in Branford, everything is also offered online.
At my sister’s house — 380 Main Street, Ansonia
My Sister’s Place, a family-owned thrift store, with all proceeds directly benefiting BHcare’s Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services. In honor of NTSD, customers visiting the store will have the option to “choose a heart surprise with a special discount coupon inside,” the store shared on Facebook, noting that one lucky customer will receive the entire order for free.
Plato’s closet — 2335 Dixwell Ave, Hamden
Hamden’s thrift and consignment store, Plato’s Closet, offers items for “fashion-conscious teenagers, savvy spenders and twenty-somethings”. Every day, special outfits are posted on the shop’s Facebook page for less than $20. Apparel items include joggers, band tees, jeans, and more.
Downtown Consignment — 781 Cromwell Ave, Rocky Hill
While Uptown Consignment’s original store was located in Rocky Hill, it has expanded with locations in Hamden, South Windsor and Southington. New and like-new designer brands like Coach, Gucci, Fendi and Louis Vuitton are available with up to 80% off their original retail price. This week, a Louis Vuitton keychain pouch is up for grabs, as well as some vintage Gucci handbags.
Witch Btch Thrift — 955 Connecticut Ave, Suite 5223, Bridgeport
Witchy, earthy, and craft vibes are all on display at Witch Btch Thrift! The store, which has gained a large following on social media over the past two years, has just launched a special back-to-school collection with clothing available for students, professionals or anyone looking for a new guard. – fall dress. Additionally, new magic sets, including journals, props, and tarot decks, are available as part of the “Odds & Ends Drop.”
